The increased intensity and frequency of storms, drought and flooding, altered hydrological cycles and precipitation variance have implications for future food availability. The multiplication and restoration of seed is the key practise to sustain food security of living being and mankind on earth. We are working for over 25 years in various agriculture area of uttarakhand have observed the adverse effects of changing climatic condition on seed diversity. We believes in inherent properties of traditional seed and their resilience and ability to grow in adverse climatic conditions.
We are is working on the conservation and multiplication of seed material. We believe that availability of quality seed is most pressing need in present agriculture system. We are working closely with other partners for restoration and multiplication of seeds for future. HARC is also exploring the genetic diversity of varieties of seed available in various parts of state so as to decode the best seed material of commercial value adaptive to changing climatic conditions. In addition our team is also working on mass multiplication of tissue culture raised potato seed varieties to ensure quality seed for food and economic security of farmers.
