Enterprise Development & Market Linkages

Enterprise development and facilitating the market channels for the growers and entrepreneurs is one of the areas of expertise of HARC. HARC is involved in  the development and diversification of the livelihood scale according to the needs of people and availability of resources in the region.  For this   HARC  promotes local resource based agri & agri allied micro enterprise & explore multi-option of livelihood opportunity for poor marginal community by providing better market linkage & direct & indirect value chain. Much emphasis is given on enhancing and expanding the local resource based agribusiness sector through collection & disseminating of agri business marketing information, market research, planning and implementing of market development programs for the promotion of product produced by rural mountain community

Technical support and business development services for the promotion of rural agri and agri-based enterprises is   provided to men and women groups. HARC promotes collective approach for production and marketing that helps in creating a niche in the local and national market for agri and agri-based products of hill-region.

Developing strong market linkages is the most important area of intervention. HARC   provides producers a platform to market their produce (food grains, millets, pulses, fresh fruits and vegetables and processed items – jam, pickles, squash, candy etc) at a good price without the help of the middlemen. HARC links the marginal community to such appropriate & adequate market channel, which reduce exploitation & generate open opportunity to all stakeholders for marketing their produce. HARC promotes federations and women cooperatives for collective marketing of the products, which reduced the exploitation of farmers at the hands of middlemen. It became operational by designing and developing marketing strategies, developing rural marketing information system, building credit and financial linkages, designing sales channels for production and trading groups and by strengthening internal and external operational capacities of federations and cooperatives.

The key areas of focus under the Enterprise development and Rural Market Linkages are-

Providing business development support services as well as generic services (capacity building, training, exposure )for entrepreneurship development.

Development of a business plan to design and implement an enterprise project, for Implementation of existing  & new enterprises for target group

Evaluation of Agri & agri allied activities that could offer employment opportunities for rural community.

Sensitizing & facilitate potential and existing entrepreneurs, CBOs  for managing their income generation activity .

Awareness generation among CBOs, entrepreneur to start or expand economically viable agribusiness.

Under Enterprise development and Rural Market Linkages, HARC provides its services   in the areas of Activity identification & Selection, Production Planning and Management skill Enhancement, Business Opportunity Identification& Guidance, Preparation of Project Report, Working Capital Management, Rural Technology Promotion, Product Pricing, Grading, Packaging & labelling, Processing, Quality Control, Book keeping and Accounts, Sales technicalities, Information of Mandis, Market Survey and Study, Product Promotion, marketing skills etc. "Developing strong market linkages became the   most important area of intervention.
